There are probably more opportunities for movement, specialization at HSI than any other 1811 organization. You'll probably have to wait until GS-13 before your chain of command will approve TDY for specialized training but it'll snowball from there and soon you'll have so much under your belt that you won't have to be a Walmart greeter if you need a post-retirement gig.

HSI gets LEAP much earlier than USMS but pay will level out for both agencies as USMS is FPL 13 now (1811 @ GS 11).
